Current Role

Jeff is a Senior Evaluation Associate on our Insights and Impact team. He primarily works with CCL staff, clients, participants, and external evaluators to lead program evaluations for our programs, products, and services. This includes contributing to program design, identifying program goals and outcomes, selecting and implementing methods for evaluating improvement opportunities and impact, and reporting key insights to stakeholders. Jeff serves as a subject matter expert on psychological measurement development and achievement motivation.

Experience

Jeff is an educational psychologist with over 10 years of experience in assessing program development, efficacy, and impact. His research interests include achievement motivation for learning, applied psychometrics, and neurodiversity in leadership. His past research focused on randomized field experiments in higher education seeking to boost course success and engagement using motivation interventions.

Since joining CCL in 2017, Jeff has led complex program evaluations in higher education, population health, and non-profit leadership development initiatives. As a part of these initiatives he has designed and implemented pre-program needs assessments, process evaluations, mixed-methods experience measures, new leadership development measures, and post-program impact assessments. Jeff has applied quantitative methods including Structural Equation Modeling (SEM; confirmatory factor analyses, measurement invariance testing, & path modeling), multi-level modeling, and latent profile analysis.

In addition to research and evaluation work, Jeff has also contributed to our data and analytic capabilities, either leading or partnering on efficiency and standardization efforts, assessment and tool revisions, and reporting design and infrastructure.

Educational Background

Jeff has a PhD in Educational Research: Applied Developmental Science from the University of Virginia, an MA in Psychological Science: Quantitative Methods from James Madison University, and a BA in Psychology from Northern Illinois University.

Jeff is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the American Evaluation Association (AEA).

  • Carnegie Alpha Lab Research Network Fellow, Carnegie Foundation, 2013–2014.
